Synopsis

Sophie Turner plays Joan Hannington in the series Joan, inspired by the life of the UK’s most famous jewel thief, written by screenwriter Anna Symon, produced by Snowed-in Productions and directed by Richard Laxton.
The series begins with Joan, a fiery, uncompromising, deeply scarred and vulnerable woman in her twenties.
She is a devoted mother to her six-year-old daughter, Kelly, but is trapped in a disastrous marriage to a violent criminal named Gary.
When Gary goes on the run, Joan seizes the opportunity to start a new life for herself and her daughter.
Adopting new identities and making new friends along the way, Joan becomes a masterful jewel thief.
She embarks on a thrilling, high-stakes journey that challenges all her limits, driven by her desire to care for her daughter and create a safe home for both of them.
Through her keen intelligence, her charm and her talent for mimicry and acting, we follow the comings and goings of Joan’s life, the ups and downs, the heartaches and the joys that make this story so gripping.
